The One Board and I have been looking closely once again at the rising numbers of COVID cases in our area. Jefferson County hospitals currently have 86 ICU beds, though are set to expand to 103, in the coming days. These are numbers that are similar to the highs our area saw in July. As of yesterday, 85 of the 86 ICU beds were occupied, not all with COVID patients, thankfully, but these ratios are still critical in our area.
We have been very fortunate as we have worshipped in person for the past couple of months. The folks who are coming have worn face coverings and stayed apart in the pews. We knew that should our area numbers increase; we would have to make the difficult decision to stop in-person worship once again.
As of this Sunday, December 6, 2020, worship will be available online only until further notice. Caroline and Randall and I are exploring ways to enhance our online worship and are looking at creative and safe ways for us to celebrate the holy season of Advent and Christmas while socially distancing.
The church office is still open Monday through Thursday for your convenience.
Grace and peace,
